AZERI TOP DIPLOMAT TO ATTEND LONDON CONFERENCE ON AFGHANISTAN
Baku, January 26 (AzerTAc). Foreign minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov will attend an international conference on Afghanistan to take place on Thursday in London.
The one-day event will bring together ministers from more than 60 countries together with several leading international organizations.
The conference participants will discuss the further progress on the Petersburg agreement from 2001 on the democratization of Afghanistan after the ousting of the Taliban regime.
The event will be co-hosted by Prime Minister Gordon Brown, President Karzai and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
It will be co-chaired by the UK Foreign Minister David Miliband, his outgoing Afghan counterpart Rangin Spanta, and UN Special Representative to Afghanistan Kai Eide.
