Regional solutions, Iran’s condition for attending London summit

Tehran, Jan 26, IRNA – Iran announced Tuesday that it would possibly attend the upcoming London meeting, only if adopting regional solutions to settle Afghanistan crisis was the core issue of the gathering.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mihman-Parast told IRNA that Iran would not have a positive view on taking part in the gathering, if the country did not reach the conclusion that the meeting would help resolve Afghanistan problems.

The London meeting is to be held on January 27 with participation of major Western and Arab states to discuss ways to settle the key regional crises.

However, Mihman-Parast added that Tehran was still mulling over attending the meeting.

Touching upon a recent comment made by the French president bout Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, the spokesman said President Nicloas Sarkozy should avoid being influenced by anti-Iran propaganda.

The French president has recently claimed that Paris had evidences about Tehran’s drive to make nuclear weapons.

“Those who make such comments must be more realistic and talk on the basis of documents,” Mihman-Parast said, suggesting that Western officials should avoid comments based on fabrications and propaganda./end
