Regional, int’l co-op between Iran-Switzerland surveyed

Tehran, Jan 26, INRA – Bilateral ties, regional and international cooperation were discussed between Iran's deputy foreign minister in Europe affairs and a visiting deputy Swiss foreign minister here on Monday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Information and Media Head Office reported that the Deputy Swiss Foreign Minster Monsignor Ambol is in Iran on an official two-day visit. Ambol held talks with his Iranian counterpart Ali Ahani, saying that his government is interested in having comprehensive dynamic relations with Iran, particularly in economic, political, and cultural fields.
Ambol who is heading a top-ranking four member delegation of diplomats said that the two countries’ cooperation in energy, investment, judiciary, and dialog at international scenes fields have thus far been quite constructive and beneficial, announcing Bern’s wish to further strengthen them.
Ahani, too, during the meeting welcoming the Swiss side’s proposal referred to the two countries’ situations, reiterating, “Fortunately, our two countries’ enjoy deep-rooted relations and there are lots of fields for cooperation, some of which have been properly exploited, but there are still lots of unused potentials, which can be worked on relying on joint efforts.”
Ahani further said, "the high level meetings in various levels at political field is a sign of the two sides’ will to upgrade relations and this factor needs to be taken full advantage of.”
He also expressed hope that the contacts and negotiations between the two sides would lead to paving the path for cooperation in various fields, particularly in health and sanitary, and gas fields, leading to implementation of the reached agreements in those fields.
Ahani added, “Cooperation between Iran and Switzerland in the judiciary field can help both sides improve their images of the other side’s judiciary system, with very positive effects in the fields of mutual understanding and exchange of experience.”
The Iranian official also opined that parliamentary cooperation, too, would despite the different parliamentary systems of the two countries, be beneficial for both countries./end
