Kuwait, Jan 26, IRNA – Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said here Monday some countries which are enemies of the Islamic world are always plotting discord among them.
Ali Larijani made the comment, upon arrival in Kuwait at the airport, in a meeting with the media reporters in response to a question in which the reporter had accused Iran of certain baseless claims.
Larijani added, “When Saddam invaded Iran, you remember that some countries tried to intimidate us, but that fear was fake and you noticed what Saddam did to the region and the regional countries.”
He added, “They have been sowing he seeds of discord throughout the past few years, and that is what they are still doing. They always sow the seeds of enmity among Muslims, and a good example for it is the situation in Iraq.”
Larijani meanwhile said, “We recently noticed that one of the Wahabi clergies insulted the grand source of jurisprudence Ayatollah Sistani; these moves are definitely made by the enemies of Islam.”
Larijani, meanwhile in response to a question on al-Houthi Shi’as and the accusation made against Iran for interference in Yemen unrests, said, “We are friends with the Yemenis and we have advised everyone there observe self restraint and to maintain friendship bonds among themselves. I assure you that the accusations against Iran there are sheer lies.”
In response to another question, Larijani ruled out the possibility of the antagonist countries’ launching of an attack against Iran’s nuclear facilities, arguing, “We have heard such words very often and we advise you, too, not to assume they are meant to be serious. That is because if they ever dared to do so they would have done so already.”
Larijani added, “In Persian language we have proverb that says we are not willows to tremble with the bowing of such winds!”
In response to another question on the internal status of affairs within the country, he said that “the situation is quite calm and stable in Iran and the Iranian democratic system is a real and serious one.”
Meanwhile, focusing on the objectives of his visit of Kuwait, Larijani said, “In this visit we would discuss bilateral political, economic, and cultural issues, as well as major regional developments.”
The Kuwaiti Parliament Speaker Jassim al-Kharafi, too, considering Larijani’s visit of Kuwait as an important move, said, “The importance of the Iranian Parliament speaker’s visit is proportionate with the importance of Iran’s role and status in the region, and it is thus very important.”
He added, “Since the annual session of the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union (IIPU) is ahead, this visit can lead to harmonizing between the two countries’ parliaments in advance.”
The Kuwaiti Parliament speaker meanwhile said that interactions with Iran and harmonizing with Tehran is of importance in the region, adding, “Such meetings can contribute to strengthening the spirit of cooperation among regional countries.”
