ANNIVERSARY OF AZERBAIJAN`s ADMISSION TO COUNCIL OF EUROPE MARKED
Baku, 25 January (AzerTAc). A roundtable meeting to mark 9 years since Azerbaijan joined the Council of Europe has been held at the Ombudsman Office.
The event, titled “Azerbaijan and Council of Europe: cooperation in the field of human rights”, brought together state officials, representatives of non-governmental organizations as well as the Council of Europe Secretary General`s Special Representative in Azerbaijan Veronika Kotek.
The meeting focused on a wide range of issues, including Azerbaijan`s human rights achievements and key trends in cooperation between the country`s Ombudsman Office and the Council of Europe.
Azerbaijan became a member of the Council of Europe on 25th January, 2001 and ratified the European Convention on Human Rights on December 25th, 2001.
