DEFENSE MINISTER TO ATTEND INT'L CONFERENCE ON AFGHANISTAN
Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ Mongolia's Defense Minister L.Bold will attend an international conference on Afghanistan that will be held in London January 28, 2010.
The conference will be co-hosted by Prime Minister Gordon Brown, President Karzai and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. It will be co-chaired by the UK Foreign Minister David Miliband, his outgoing Afghan counterpart Rangin Spanta, and UN Special Representative to Afghanistan, Kai Eide.
The conference will discuss progressively handing over security in Afghan provinces to Afghan government control so that international forces in the country could be eventually reduced.
The international community are coming together to fully align military and civilian resources behind an Afghan-led political strategy. The strategy will engage the Afghan people in defence of their country to divide the insurgency and build regional cooperation.
