MAYOR WANTS TO INTENSIFY TIES WITH IRKUTSK REGION

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ A Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city G.Monkhbayar received last Saturday a delegation headed by D.F.Mezentsev, the governor of the Russian Federation's Irkutsk region.
Beginning the meeting, Monkhbayar underlined that the ties between Ulaanbaatar and Irkutsk cities, started in 1996, have been in stagnation recent years. He noted a necessity of intensifying the relations based on citizen-to-citizen ties. "Many Mongolians gained education in Irkutsk. This city is very friendly for us. Engineers who were trained in Irkutsk are still contributing to development of Ulaanbaatar city," said the Mayor. He added that Mongolia wants to lean on Irkutsk's universities and institutes in re-training engineers educated in Irkutsk.
The Mayor said the Administration of Ulaanbaatar is ready to support a supply of Mongolia-made products to Irkutsk and improve business ties between Ulaanbaatar city and the region.
The Russian side said the two cities have opportunities to connect the Lake Baikal journey with Lake Khovsgol and to develop collaboration in agricultural sector.
