Iran calls for downgrading of ties with England

Tehran, Jan 24, IRNA – The Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission on Sunday called for downgrading the current level of cultural and commercial ties with England.

A number of deputies to foreign minister, officials from different organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines were present in the Sunday meeting of the Majlis commission.

The participants reviewed the record of activities of Britian before and after the Islamic Revolution particularly London's negative role in connection with Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities and its destructive and harmful role in the aftermath of the country’s presidential election.

The move of Britain in crossing out the name of MKO from its list of terrorist groups and its role in pushing for tougher economic sanctions approved against Iran, were among topics of discussion in the meeting.

Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has authorized the commission to study the case through exchange of views with Foreign Ministry as well as other relative organizations./end
