Official condemns US support for thugs in southeastern Iran
Tehran, Jan 25, IRNA – Senior Advisor to the Supreme Leader Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi condemned US support for mercenaries and thugs in southeastern Iran adding that such backing has created tension and insecurity in the region.
He made the remarks in a meeting with leaders and heads of tribes of northern cities of the southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province on Sunday.
Safavi said that the weakness of the Pakistani and Afghan governments in establishing security in their own territories have caused tension in the two countries’ joint border regions with Iran.
Rahim Safavi further condemned the enemies’ efforts to sow seeds of discord among various tribes and sects in Iran and called for consolidation of unity and solidarity throughout the country./end
