Iran's “About Elly” competes at Asian Film Award with two nominations
TEHRAN, Jan. 24 (MNA) -- The Iranian film “About Elly” has been nominated in two categories at the 4th annual Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong. The award ceremony will take place on March 22, 2010.
The announcement was made on January 20 that Asghar Farhadi’s international award winning film has been nominated in the best director and best screenplay categories.
Teddy Chan’s “Bodyguards and Assassins” and Boon Jong-ho’s “Mother” both scored six nominations, including best film and director, for the fourth Asian Film Awards.
Also included are Park Chan-Wook’s Cannes winner “Thirst” and Lu Chuan’s “City of Life and Death” which have received four nominations each, also including best film.
“About Elly” has won several international awards among which are the Silver Bear for best director at the Berlinale 2009 and the Best Narrative Feature category at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2009.
