Majlis speaker slams new US anti-Iran move
Qom, Jan 24, IRNA – Speaker of Iran’s Parliament (Majlis) Ali Larijani said Saturday that the US move to allocate a budget for damaging Iran’s image in cyberspace would further strengthen the Iranian nation.
Larijani made the remarks commenting on a recent report that said five US senators called on the country’s Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, in a letter made public last Wednesday, to swiftly spend the $45 million budget that has been earmarked over the last two years to fight what they called Internet restrictions in countries like Iran.
US would never be successful in disturbing Iran’s image worldwide, even if it used 45 billion dollars instead of the current 45-million-dollar budget, Larijani said speaking on the sidelines of the inaugural ceremony for a series of telecommunications projects in this provincial capital city.
He stressed that such moves would increasingly encourage the Iranian nation on their way towards “technological progress.”
“Such moves would never stop Iranians' move towards progress,” Larijani stressed./end
