Serang, June 17 (ANRTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to open the 12th National Koran Reading Competition (MTQ) at the Banten Provincial Administration Center in Sukajaya village, Serang, on Tuesday evening.
"All preparations for the 12th National Koran Reading Competition have in general been completed and the president is expected to open it at 7:30 on Tuesday evening," a spokesman for the organizing committee, Bambang, said here on Tuesday.
He said all contingents from 33 provinces across the country had arrived in Banten and were divided into 17 groups.
Bambang said the Koran Reading Competition was being held in Banten with Rp31 billion in funding from the Banten provincial budget and Rp800 million from the Religious Affairs Ministry.
To ensure the safety of the president, Banten police had set up a barbed-wire fence around the place where he would be seated.
