FIRST AZERI-RUSSIAN FORUM ON HUMANITARIAN COOPERATION WRAPS UP IN BAKU
Baku, 23 January (AzerTAc). The First Azeri-Russian Forum on Humanitarian Cooperation has ended here today. The Forum adopted a joint statement.
Addressing the closing ceremony, director general of Russia`s news agency ITAR-TASS Vitali Ignatenko described the Forum`s work “productive”. He said the Forum would make a “huge” contribution to further expanding Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation.
ITAR-TASS`s chief also shared his memories about Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Head of Azerbaijan`s Presidential Administration, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev said the forum is of “great” importance for both nations. Mehdiyev said “Azerbaijan is the most stable country in the region”, describing his country as an initiator of large-scale projects.
Mehdiyev talked about President Ilham Aliyev`s efforts to convert black gold into human gold. The head of Presidential Administration also gave information about projects to be implemented in Azerbaijan in the near future.
Chief of Russian Presidential Administration Sergey Narishkin thanked the Azerbaijani side for “high-level” organization of the forum, saying “this forum was one more step towards development of Azerbaijani-Russian relationship.”
Speakers, including Russian President`s special envoy for International and Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi, writer Chingiz Abdullayev, Rector of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations Anatoli Torkunov and Rector of Baku Slavic University Kamal Abdullah expressed assurance the forum would contribute to strengthening bilateral ties.
The participants suggested that Azerbaijani and Russian presidents be honored chairmen of the Forum.
