Pakistan attaches great significance to ties with UK
Islamabad, June 17 PPI: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani says Pakistan attaches great significance to its multi-faceted relationship with United Kingdom, which forms important part of its foreign policy.
Talking to Pakistan's High Commissioner- designate to UK, Wajid Shamsul Hassan on Monday, he said ties with UK were rooted in history. UK has been key development partner of Pakistan and government keen to further augment ties in all fields.
Britain is our largest trading partner and we are looking for greater cooperation from UK in getting greater market access for our products to EU market. We are also keen to deepen cooperation with UK in counter-terrorism, narcotics control and legal cooperation,'' Gilani added.
He said sizeable community of Pakistanis residing in UK adds special significance to relationship with Britain.
