External elements creating unrest on Pak-Iran border: Pak.Politician

Islamabad, Jan 20, IRNA – A senior Pakistani political leader of major opposition party here on Tuesday said that some external elements are trying to destabilize region by creating unrest on Pakistan-Iran border.

Talking to IRNA Secretary General Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz Senator (R) Iqbal Zafar Jhagra however hoped that such elements will not be able to succeed in accomplishing their evil designs against the two strong Muslim states of the region.

“There are some elements that are against the peace and stability of the area”, he viewed.

The political leader opined that Iran and Pakistan have a long history of cordial and friendly relations and the history of Pak–Iran relations goes back to the earliest days of Pakistan’s independence.

He was of the view that Iran is brother of Pakistan and the bilateral relations will grow in future despite these conspiracies.

Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said that Pakistan government always wanted to have strong brotherly relations with Iran and in past ‘we have always enjoyed good relations’.

He said that Iran is a major power of the region and can play a vital role to solve regional problems. “Regional problems should be solved through mutual cooperation”, he believed.

Iqbal Zafar Jhagra stressed the need for Iran-Pakistan cooperation in every field. “Iran has always given great strategic value to Pakistan”, he said.

Expressing his views on Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project the politician stressed the need to finalize the project on priority basis to cater the increasing energy demands in Pakistan.

“The project will open more avenues of peace between Iran and Pakistan”, he said.

Replying to a question about the pressure on Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said that Iran has every right to develop its nuclear programme and the west should analyze Iran’s nuclear programme with a positive approach.

“We support Iran’s nuclear progarmme and strongly condemn the pressure on Iran to roll back its nuclear programme”, he said.

The PML-N leader opined that vast majority of Pakistanis like to see Iran as a nuclear power and thinks that Iran should not bow before the international pressure over nuclear issue.
