Mottaki: Situation of 4 abducted Iranian diplomats unknown

Tehran, Jan 19, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said the destiny of 4 abducted Iranian diplomats was vague and still unknown.

Referring to various attempts underway, he further stressed the need for speeding up procedures to clarify the situation and destiny of Iran’s former charge d’affaires in Beirut.

He said all attempts made and measures undertaken so far have unfortunately fallen stern due to the incompetence of international bodies and the parties involved in the issue especially the Zionist regime.

The foreign minister also stressed that Iran as well as the families of the abducted diplomats naturally expected international bodies to enhance their activities to get them released in a bid to put to end to years-long agony of their families.

Mottaki hold the Zionist regime directly responsible for safety and security of the four abducted diplomats and urged all international legal organizations especially the secretary general of the United Nations to abide by their legal commitments and take necessary measures to speed up their release.
