MONGOLIA BECOMES FEALAC MEMBER



Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ Mongolia joined the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) during the 4th forum for the FEALAC Foreign Ministers' Meeting that was held January 16-17 in Tokyo, Japan.
The FEALAC, an official talks' mechanism was established in 1999 with main purpose to widen the cooperation, mutual understanding and talks on political and economic issues between East Asian and Latin American countries. It has 33 members, of which 15 ones are East Asian countries and 18 ones in Latin America. Mongolia becomes the 34th member of the FEALAC.
The State Secretary of the Foreign Minister D.Tsogtbaatar gave speech at the Foreign Ministers' Meeting to express a gratitude on behalf of Mongolia's government for letting Mongolia become the FEALAC member.
He underlined that Mongolia's joining the FEALAC has satisfied foreign policy and interests of Mongolia to actively take part in political and economic collaboration in the Asia-Pacific region. He said Mongolia wants to partake in projects and programs implemented by the FEALAC and to share experiences in development.
In a scope of the meeting, Tsogtbaatar met with the Foreign Ministers of China, Thailand, Cambodia and Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba. The dignitaries emphasized an importance of cooperating in frames of the bilateral and international talks and of supporting each other.
The Thailand side expressed its willingness to increase its support for Mongolia and promised to pay an attention to involving more students from Mongolia in short- and middle-term trainings.
