PRESIDENT LEAVES FOR E KALIMANTAN ON OFFICIAL VISIT
Denpasar, Bali, June 15 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and entourage left Denpasar, Bali, for Balikpapan in East Kalimantan province Sunday morning, for an official visit.
The head of state and entourage left Ngurah Rai airport at 8 a.m local time by a Boeing 737-500 Garuda Indonesia airplane and arrived at East Kalimantan's Sepinggan airport in Balikpapan at 9.40 a.m.
At the airport, the president was greeted by East Kalimantan Governor Yurnalis Ngayoh and some other high-ranking local administration officials.
The president in the accompany of the governor proceeded from the airported by a smaller Dash-7 plane to Bontang airport to watch a joint military exercise, which includes a sea combat and an air strike by Indonesian jet fighters. The president on the occasion was not accompanied by the First Lady, Madame Ani Yudhoyono, as she was visiting an exhibition on the products of Medium and Small-scale Businesses in Jakarta.
The president was scheduled to return to Balikpapan on Monday (June 16) afternoon to inagurate several delopment projects in the province and hand over Rp 25 billion in educational aid for distribution to students, including university students, lecturers and civil servants.
The president is scheduled to distribute 28 and 14 cars to 14 regents/mayors, and several boats to local military authorities, and also 20 thousand packages of staple food.
The president who was accompanied by several ministers, is scheduled to leave the East kalimantan province on Tuesday (June 17) at 9 a.m. local time.
