Nuclear cooperation should replace nuclear dispute: Ahmadinejad
AHVAZ, Iran, Jan. 16 (MNA) – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad suggested on Thursday that the “nuclear dispute” between Iran and certain Western countries should change into a “nuclear cooperation”.
“We have told them (Westerners) to pursue nuclear cooperation instead of nuclear standoff, and this path is still open before them,” Ahmadinejad said on the sidelines of a memorial ceremony for student martyrs from the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war in Hoveyzeh, Khouzestan Province.
Ahmadinejad pointed out that the Iranian nation has had many advances in its nuclear program and that the enemies cannot halt this progress.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the president condemned the assassination of Professor Masoud Ali Mohammadi and said that the enemies want to stop the Iranian nation’s move towards the “summits of knowledge”.
“They intend to dominate the Middle East by dominating Iran,” he said.
The professor, Masoud Ali Mohammadi, was assassinated in a bomb attack in northern Tehran on Tuesday morning. He had just left his home when a bomb hidden in a motorcycle was detonated.
Ali Mohammadi, 50, was a professor of nuclear physics at the University of Tehran.
Tehran has accused Israel and the United States of being behind the assassination in order to halt Iran’s technological progress.
Ahmadinejad added the Zionist regime’s efforts are out of its “weakness”.
“Those who were dreaming of the idea from the Nile to the Euphrates are constructing an iron wall around themselves to remain safe from the anger of Palestinian youth and combatants.”
The president also condemned the presence of foreign forces in the region and stated that the NATO members say they are making efforts to establish democracy in the Middle East but this is a great lie because they have close ties with a number of regional countries where women are not even allowed to drive.
The occupation of Iraq, the occupation of Afghanistan, and the crises in Pakistan and Yemen are all results of the presence of global arrogance in the region, Ahmadinejad noted.
