Hanoi (VNA) – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Republic of Korea’s
(RoK) Government will jointly host an international conference on Asia in Seoul in
July, the IMF announced on January 14.

The conference will examine Asia's economic dynamism, its development and
evolving role in international policy-making, said the IMF.

More than 300 leading figures are expected to attend, ranging from governors of
central banks and finance ministers to business leaders, financial analysts and
representatives of civic society.

Asia is at an important crossroads, said the IMF’s Managing Director Dominique
Strauss-Kahn, noting that in the post economic crisis world, Asia is
well-positioned to build on its strong macro-economic track record and engage
prominently in the debate on challenges facing the global economy.

Also according to the IMF, Strauss-Kahn will visit Japan and Hong Kong from
January 18-20 where he will meet with senior-level Japanese government officials
and deliver a keynote speech at the Asian Financial Forum 2010 in Hong Kong on
January 20.-Enditem
