AZERBAIJANI FOREIGN MINISTRY EXPRESSES DISCONTENT TO US AND NORWEGIAN DIPLOMATS
Baku, January 16 (AzerTAc). The Azerbaiijan`s Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited Friday Norwegian ambassador Jon Ramberg and US chargé d'affaires Donald Lu where they met with Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Vagif Sadigov.
Discussion at the meetings focused on a joint press statement made by the US and Norwegian embassies on Wednesday following a Nakhchivan trip of both embassies` employees.
Saying the issue is under scrutiny, Sadigov expressed Azerbaijani side`s discontent over the activity of Norwegian and US diplomats during the trip, which is not in line with the 1961 Vienna convention on diplomatic relations and contradicts the rules of diplomatic conduct in a country of accreditation.
The attempts of some states to politicize and present some developments in Azerbaijan as violation of human rights were evaluated as unacceptable. The foreign diplomats were warned that such actions do not correspond to the level of relationship between the countries and can hinder their development.
The diplomats were informed that Azerbaijan is committed to all obligations the country assumed under the international law including those concerning security of the diplomats accredited in the country.
