EXTERNAL TRADE TURNOVER DECLINES

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ As of 2009, Mongolia traded with 118 countries and total external trade turnover reached 4,033.9 mln.US dollars, of which exports made up 1,902.6 mln.US dollar and import accounted 2,131.3 mln.US dollar.
External trade balance in 2009 showed a deficit of 228.7 mln.US dollar, by 481.3 mln.US dollar or 3.1 times decrease compared with the previous year. Compared with the previous year, total external trade turnover declined by 1745.1 mln.US dollars, or 30.2 percent, of which exports by 631.9 mln.US dollar, or 24.9 percent, imports by 1113.3 mln.US dollar, or 34.3 percent respectively.
Compared with the same period of the previous year, total export fell due to declines of 39.9 percent in value of copper concentrate; and of 20.8 percent in value of zinc concentrate; and of 47.1 percent in volume and 44.0 percent in value of gold, in unwrought or semi-manufactured forms, respectively.
