MONEY SUPPLY INCREASES



Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/. According to a report of the Bank of Mongolia, money supply (broad money or M2) has increased to 2880.0 bln.togrogs at the end of 2009 that is an increase of 164.8 bln.togrogs or 6.1 percent compared with November 2009 and a rise of 610.0 bln.togrogs, or 26.9 percent compared to December 2008.
At the end of December 2009, currency issued in circulation reached 371.8 bln.togrogs demonstrating an increase of 7.9 bln.togrogs, or 2.2 percent compared to November 2009, and a decrease of 35.4 bln.togrogs, or 8.7 percent compared to December 2008.
Loans outstanding at the end of December 2009, amounted to 2655.0 bln.togrogs, an increase of 23.0 bln.togrogs, or 0.9 percent over November 2009, and of 19.4 bln.togrogs, or 0.7 percent, compared with December 2008. Meanwhile, principals in arrears decreased by 44.7 bln.togrogs or 26.9 percent over November of 2009, reaching 121.7 bln.togrogs.
The non-performing loans reached 462.0 bln.togrogs, which was 17.4 percent of the total loans outstanding and it is increased by 5.9 bln.togrogs or 1.3 percent over November of 2009, and by 273.3 bln.togrogs or 2.4 times compared with December of 2008.
