POPULATION INCREASES

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ By a preliminary result, Mongolian population has reached 2,736.8 thousand with an increased by 53.2 thousand people or 1.98 percent compared with the 2008 year.
By data sources of the Ministry of Health, in 2009 births per 1,000 population was 25.1, mortality per 1,000 population was 5.7 and natural increase per 1,000 population was 19.4.
As of the 2009, the number of live births reached 68,544 increasing 5,457 or 8.6 percent against the previous year at national level. The number of mothers delivered children were 68,762 increasing 5,500 or 8.7 per cent against the previous year.
The number of infant mortality reached 1,386 increasing by 146 infants, the number of maternal deaths was 56 increasing 25, while the number of under-five mortality showed 240 at the same level compared with the previous year.
