STATE HEAD ATTENDS ONLINE MEETING

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ The President Ts.Elbegdorj took part Wednesday in an online meeting of the council on global climate change running in frames of the Davos World Economic Forum-2010 (WEF).
The President spoke about how the climate change affects Mongolia, expressed his opinion on lessons of the Copenhagen's UN Climate Change Summit, and shared views on making the climate change talks lead to certain results.
The CCCh's meeting, held November last year in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, has initiated climate change-related works such as establishing international fund to promote trees planting and founding a financial mechanism which supports an introduction of environmentally-friendly technologies in low-income countries.
Attendees of the online-meeting underlined that it is time to create a new tendency among countries and their leaders about international cooperation in order to reach a global agreement on the urgent problem--global climate change. They discussed an opportunity to enhance measures on climate change by agreeing at regional levels in the first turn. The attendees confirmed that Mongolia has a possibility to play main role in the central and East Asia in this issue.
The CCCh's online meeting brought together world outstanding politicians and scholars from the Universities of Cambridge, Harvard, and Stanford, research institutes of Japan, India and Brazil. In addition, authorities of the British Petroleum, the Deutsche Bank, Duke Energy Corporation, TEPCO, NGOs--the Greenpeace and the WWF attended the meeting.
This meeting was run through the latest technology of Internet communications named "WELCOM". The State Head of Mongolia has been invited to a CCCh's meeting to be held during the 40th WEF to run January 27-31 in Davos, Switzerland.
