PM Emphasizes The Importance Of The Media And Its Pivotal Role In The Reforms Being Implemented By The Government

Baghdad /NINA/- Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the importance of the media and its pivotal role in the reforms being implemented by the government. He stressed the need to adhere to professional and objective journalism and constructive criticism, while separating it from attempts at misinformation and distortion.
His media office explained: "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received today, Sunday, the head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, Khalid Jassim, his deputies, and members of the new syndicate council."
Al-Sudani congratulated the head, his deputies, and the council members on gaining the trust of their colleagues, praising the vital role played by the syndicate and its importance. He affirmed that journalists are partners of the state, as professional media has accompanied the government's journey through many stages and contributed to highlighting its achievements.
Al-Sudani emphasized that freedom of opinion and expression is among the most prominent achievements of the post-2003 era, noting the necessity of cooperation to preserve it.
He stressed that the government does not interfere in the work of the syndicate, but rather supports its independence, free from any pressure or obstacles, recalling the great sacrifices made by the community of journalists, among them martyrs and wounded in the pursuit of truth. /End
