FMs of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan discuss border projects and Issyk-Kul-Almaty road

Bishkek, Feb. 13, 2026 /Kabar/. On February 13, 2026, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev held talks with Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev, who arrived in Bishkek on an official visit.

According to Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, the foreign ministers discussed in detail the current state of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade and economic, water and energy, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. The parties paid special attention to the implementation of the agreements reached by the heads of state and government during the 7th meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council and the 13th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council between the two countries. Schedule of mutual visits at the highest levels for the current year was also agreed upon.

Turning to the practical aspects of cooperation, the ministers discussed the implementation of such significant projects as the construction of industrial trade and logistics complex on the border between our countries, wholesale distribution center in Almaty region for storing fruits and vegetables, an alternative Issyk-Kul-Almaty highway, and the modernization of checkpoints and bridges on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border.

Along with infrastructure development, the parties noted the untapped potential for interregional cooperation in agriculture and industrial cooperation. In this regard, they agreed to explore existing prospects.

They exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in multilateral forums. In this regard, the foreign ministers reaffirmed their shared positions on the current regional agenda and their readiness to support each other within international organizations.

Furthermore, the parties expressed their commitment to expanding cultural and humanitarian ties, including through initiatives in education, healthcare, and youth policy.

Concluding the meeting, Kulubaev invited the Kazakh side to take an active part in the upcoming VI World Nomad Games.
