Qatar Partakes in First Ministerial Meeting on Critical Minerals in Washington

Washington, February 5 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the first ministerial meeting on critical minerals, organized by the US Department of State in Washington, D.C.
HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed represented the State of Qatar at the meeting. The meeting was attended by HE Vice President of the United States, J. D. Vance and HE US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio along with a lineup of ministers and senior officials from several countries.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance international cooperation to secure supply chains for critical minerals, support the diversification of mining sources, and encourage investments and joint ventures in the mining, processing, and recycling sectors. It also addressed strengthening environmental, social, and governance standards for supply chains, given the strategic importance of these minerals in the clean energy, semiconductor, artificial intelligence, and defense industries.
His Excellency also attended the Business Forum, held the day before the ministerial meeting at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), which focused on discussing the challenges and opportunities related to the sustainability of supply chains and the strengthening of public-private partnerships.
