Kyrgyzstan and India hold joint military exercise in Assam

Bishkek, Feb. 4, 2026 /Kabar/. The 13th edition of the joint Kanjar military exercise between Kyrgyzstan and India began today in Misamari, Sonitpur district of Assam, Indian media reported.

The 14-day exercise is aimed at enhancing interoperability between the special forces of the two countries, with a focus on joint operations in urban warfare and counter-terrorism under a United Nations mandate.

India’s elite Parachute Regiment and Kyrgyzstan’s Scorpion Brigade will conduct joint training in sniping, room intervention, building clearance, mountain warfare, and specialized counter-terrorism operations.

Kyrgyzstan and India have been holding the Khanjar exercise annually since 2011, with venues alternating between the two countries. The previous edition was held in March 2025 in Kyrgyzstan. Officials noted that the exercise reflects the strengthening defense partnership between the two countries and contributes to regional security cooperation.
