Kyrgyz Parliament speaker receives UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Feb. 3, 2026. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu received UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic, Antje Grawe.

According to the parliament's press service, during the meeting, the parties discussed the development of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UN, as well as joint projects and future plans.

Nurlanbek uulu noted that Kyrgyzstan actively cooperates with the UN in many areas.

"We are also interested in further developing the existing partnership and implementing joint projects in various fields. "The Jogorku Kenesh, as the main legislative body, is also ready for close cooperation and joint work," he said.

The speaker emphasized that the gross domestic product has been growing in recent years and that the domestic economy is performing well.

"A great deal of work will be done by 2030. The head of state has set serious goals in this area, and the parliament is also making every effort," he stated.

In turn, Antje Grawe congratulated the speaker on his re-election and emphasized that her office is interested in ongoing cooperation with the Kyrgyz parliament.

She added that the UN highly values ​​Kyrgyzstan's efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and places particular emphasis on developing partnerships in this area.

She mentioned the activities of the Council on the Rights of Women, Children, and Gender Equality of the Jogorku Kenesh. Citing the fruitful work of this platform as an example, Antje Grawe expressed her readiness to fully facilitate the active participation of this Council in planned international events in the future.
