Kyrgyz Cabinet discuss irrigation issues with development partners

Bishkek, Feb. 2, 2026. /Kabar/. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic - Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev held talks with the heads of representative offices of international financial institutions in Kyrgyzstan, as well as with representatives of the diplomatic corps, on the topic of "Future investments in the irrigation sector of Kyrgyzstan."
During the meeting, the parties discussed the scale of global challenges facing the development of the country's water and irrigation sector, the sector's investment needs, identifying potential areas of cooperation, and developing specific solutions.
It was also noted that collaboration with international development partners has contributed to the implementation of modern water resource management methods, the digitalization of water metering, increased resilience of water infrastructure to climate change, and improved water supply to irrigated lands.
The meeting also discussed the progress of existing water management projects between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Asian Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, and other international partners.
Overall, it was noted that the implementation of water management projects will not only improve water supply and irrigation but will also have a positive impact on the country's socioeconomic development.
