The Tamhae 3, a geophysical exploration vessel owned by the state-run Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources, is moored at a port in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, southeastern South Korea, on Jan. 28, 2026. The ship is used to conduct an exploration mission for rare earth elements and secure the necessary data to evaluate their development potential. (Yonhap)
