Foreign Minister Araghchi stresses ‘deep historical’ ties with Georgia

Tehran, IRNA – Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described relations with Georgia as “historical and based on close people-to-people bonds” during a meeting on Sunday with the Islamic Republic’s new ambassador to Tbilisi.
During the meeting, which took place before Ambassador Ali Mojani departed for his post, Araghchi emphasized the necessity of strengthening interactions and cooperation between the two countries. He highlighted several key areas for enhanced collaboration, including political, cultural, economic, trade, transit, and tourism.
Ambassador Mojani, for his part, outlined his plans and priorities to further boost bilateral relations between Tehran and Tbilisi and to develop cooperation across various fields.
Araghchi formally introduced Mojani, a diplomat and former advisor at the foreign ministry, as Iran’s ambassador to Georgia on October 30, 2025.
