Mauritania Reaffirms Support for Yemen's Unity and Stability

Nouakchott, January 04, 2026, SPA -- Mauritania reaffirmed its unwavering support for Yemen’s unity, security, and stability, particularly in light of recent developments in the country’s southern regions.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Mauritanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the need to achieve political solutions and lasting security arrangements based on consensus, safeguarding Yemen’s territorial integrity and fulfilling the aspirations of its people for peace and stability.
The statement welcomed the call by President of the Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al-Alimi to convene a comprehensive conference in Riyadh bringing together all relevant parties to discuss issues in southern Yemen, expressing hope that all southern factions would participate in a spirit of national responsibility.
It added that Mauritania hoped the conference would help unify stances, strengthen security and stability, and promote dialogue and understanding. It also welcomed Saudi Arabia’s agreement to host and sponsor the talks, noting that the initiative would serve Yemen and its people, preserve the country’s unity and territorial integrity, and contribute to stability in the wider region.
