Saudi Projects in Yemen’s Abyan Boost Services and Sustainable Growth in Vital Sectors

Riyadh, January 1, 2026, SPA -- As part of its ongoing support to strengthen development across Yemen, the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has implemented development projects and initiatives in Abyan Governorate that reflect principles of sustainable growth.
Covering health, education, water, agriculture and fisheries, as well as other development programs, SDRPY's initiatives aim to generate lasting developmental impact across Abyan and Yemen as a whole. They improve basic services, enhance infrastructure efficiency, and create job opportunities.
SDRPY has carried out integrated development projects in Abyan targeting water and food security. Renewable energy technologies are used to operate water and irrigation systems in several districts, helping to improve water availability, support agricultural production, increase farmers’ incomes, and strengthen the capacity of local communities to achieve water and food security.
Interventions have also extended to education, health, and livelihoods. The program established and equipped model educational facilities, implemented health projects to advance medical and emergency services and bring them closer to residents, and launched initiatives to economically empower families and diversify income sources. These initiatives contribute to economic and social stability and enhance quality of life across the governorate.
SDRPY seeks to deliver sustainable interventions across Yemen through diverse development initiatives that meet essential needs, support reconstruction and development, and improve services provided to the Yemeni people.
