PM Anwar Officiates Launch Of 'I Lite U' Lighting Project

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim arrived at Pavilion, Bukit Bintang here Saturday night to officiate the launch of the “I LITE U” Lighting Innovation Project.

 

The launch, held in front of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, also seeks to further strengthen the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026) campaign.

 

Anwar arrived at about 8 pm accompanied by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming, and was received by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh and Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing.

 

Also present were Communications Minister  Fahmi Fadzil, several ministers and deputy ministers, as well as Oscar Award winner Michelle Yeoh, who is also a Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

 

Tonight’s programme also features a large-scale parade involving 16 contingents as well as performances by popular local artistes.

 

“I LITE U” covers a main route spanning nearly one kilometre around Bukit Bintang, aimed at enlivening the city’s night atmosphere through captivating lighting displays, while highlighting the beauty of the urban landscape through the use of modern and sustainable technology in line with the low-carbon city agenda.

 

The project features several light-emitting diode (LED) designs, utilising energy-efficient technology with the installation of more than 70 LED lights.

 

‘I LITE U’ is an acronym for Infrastructure, Lighting, Innovation, Technology, sustainable towards Urbanisation.
