Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing Directorate concludes 2025 with global first in innovation management system implementation

Manama, Dec. 31 (BNA): The General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing concluded 2025 after meeting the requirements of the Innovation Management System (ISO 56001:2024), becoming the first entity in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the first security authority worldwide to implement the system in accordance with its approved standards.
Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Director-General of the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, said the achievement reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to strengthen institutional work and promote sustainable development, with the support and follow up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He also highlighted the directives of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, to continue advancing development initiatives aimed at improving institutional performance.
He said that meeting the requirements of ISO 56001:2024 represents an important step in adopting innovation as a structured approach to policy and service development, and in improving the quality of outputs related to the directorate’s mandates and responsibilities.
Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa added that the system provides an internationally recognised framework for managing innovation in a systematic and sustainable manner, through governance mechanisms, leadership support for innovation initiatives, and the integration of planning, measurement, and continuous improvement, contributing to institutional efficiency and future preparedness.
He noted that the directorate will continue to build on this achievement by further developing its institutional innovation framework, enhancing performance, strengthening institutional confidence, and supporting the Kingdom of Bahrain’s adoption of recognised international practices.
Hassan Isa Al Sharqi, Managing Director at Qplus Inspection and Quality Solutions, said the achievement was realised through professional cooperation with the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing. He noted that the application of ISO 56001:2024 by a security authority represents a precedent and demonstrates that innovation can be managed through structured institutional systems, including within sensitive sectors.
Al Sharqi explained that Qplus provided technical and consultancy support through an integrated process that included gap analysis, development of the innovation framework, formulation of policies and procedures, capacity building, and alignment of innovation with strategic objectives and performance indicators.
ISO 56001:2024 is among the latest international standards issued by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO). It aims to support organisations in managing innovation systematically by transforming ideas into measurable value that enhances institutional performance and adaptability.
