Iranian and Tajik officials discuss joint museum initiatives

Shiraz, IRNA – Zarifi Alisher Najmiddin, First Deputy Director of the National Museum of Tajikistan, has said that developing museum cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan can play an effective role in showcasing the two countries’ shared cultural heritage at regional and international levels.

Speaking in a meeting with the Director-General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Department of Iran's southern province of Fars Behzad Moridi, Zarifi emphasized the deep historical, cultural, and civilizational commonalities between Tajikistan and Iran.

An exhibition of selected artifacts from the Jundishapur Museum of Trade History is to be held at the National Museum of Tajikistan simultaneously with the international Nowruz celebration, he added.

He noted that plans are also underway to hold an exhibition of historical and artistic artifacts from the National Museum of Tajikistan at one of the museums or cultural centers in Shiraz.

Meanwhile, Moridi stressed cultural and museum interactions as important for strengthening friendly relations between the two countries.

Fars is ready to expand museum cooperation with Tajikistan, he noted.

Holding joint international exhibitions, cooperation in the field of restoration and revitalization of historical artifacts and buildings, conducting joint scientific research, training and empowering specialized human resources, and documentation of historical artifacts are among the most important areas of cooperation between the cultural heritage departments of Fars and Tajikistan, he stated.
