Interior Ministry Helps Foil Two Attempts to Smuggle over 200 kg of Narcotics in Oman

Riyadh, December 23, 2025, SPA -- Security Spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior Talal Al-Shalhoub stated that intelligence shared by the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) with its Omani counterpart led to the thwarting of two smuggling attempts. The operations resulted in the seizure of over 200 kilograms of narcotics. Al-Shalhoub lauded the effective and ongoing cooperation between the Kingdom and the Sultanate of Oman in tracking and intercepting criminal networks.
In a concurrent operation, Al-Shalhoub detailed that the GDNC, in coordination with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA), apprehended six Pakistani residents in Riyadh Region. The suspects were caught while taking delivery of 71 kilograms of methamphetamine.
He affirmed that Saudi Arabia will continue to monitor criminal activities that target its security and youth through drugs, confront and thwart such attempts, and arrest those involved.
He also urged the public to report any information regarding drug smuggling or trafficking. Residents in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions should call 911, while those in other regions can dial 999. Reports related to smuggling crimes can be submitted confidentially to the GDNC at 995.
