Baku to host 2026 Sumo World Championship

“The date and venue for the first-ever Sumo World Championship in Azerbaijan have been announced,” Ulvi Aghamirov, Vice President of the Japanese Martial Arts and Culture Association, told AZERTAC.

The tournament is scheduled to take place on October 17–18 next year at the Baku Sports Palace. According to Aghamirov, sumo wrestlers from 35 countries are expected to participate in the competition.
