Hungary Keen On Boosting Scientific Partnership With Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- Hungary is keen on strengthening scientific cooperation with Malaysia, especially in sustainable materials, bio-based composites and advanced manufacturing technologies.
Associate Professor and Director of Academic Affairs at Hungary’s John von Neumann University, Dr László Tóth said Malaysia’s rapid progress in materials science and additive manufacturing has positioned the country as an important regional partner for Hungary.
“In recent years, Malaysia has become one of the most rapidly developing research hubs in the Asian region.
“Their focus on sustainable, high-performance materials provides a strong foundation for our joint research projects,” he told Bernama after attending the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between John von Neumann University and SEGi University at the Embassy of Hungary here, witnessed by Hungary’s Ambassador-designate to Malaysia, Dr Sándor Sipos.
He said Hungary’s engagement with Malaysia will support wider scientific cooperation in biodegradable materials and emerging 3D-printing technologies, in line with global sustainability goals.
“Our cooperation creates opportunities that go far beyond traditional academic relations. We aim to be an active participant in the international scientific network in which SEGi University already plays a significant role,” he added.
On the collaboration formalised between the two universities, he said the MoA will focus on joint research involving recycled PLA (polylactic acid), natural-fibre biocomposites and the development of eco-friendly 3D-printing filaments, supported by mechanical testing, environmental-impact analysis, life-cycle assessment and studies on printability performance.
SEGi University Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research and Innovation), Prof Dr Srikumar Chakravarthi, who signed on behalf of SEGi, said the partnership reflects growing international interest in Malaysia’s research capabilities.
“This collaboration strengthens Malaysia–Hungary relations and supports innovation, sustainability and talent development in both countries,” he said.
He added that the cooperation will also expand opportunities for student and researcher mobility, joint publications and shared access to specialist research facilities.
