Interior Minister meets NATO Parliamentary Assembly delegation

Manama, Nov. 19 (BNA): General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, met with a delegation from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, led by Lord Lancaster, member of the United Kingdom's House of Lords and Chair of the Assembly’s Defence and Security Committee.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Interior, the Chief of Public Security, and the Ministry’s Undersecretary.
The minister noted that the Assembly brings together legislators from NATO member states and serves as a key link between NATO and national parliaments.
He said the Kingdom of Bahrain’s approach, rooted in the values of justice, tolerance, coexistence, and openness, derives from the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He added that Bahrain has consolidated its international standing through effective cooperation with international organisations, commitment to international conventions, and constructive participation in efforts to promote global peace and stability.
The minister emphasised that Bahrain’s strategic alliances play a central role in safeguarding the stability, progress, and prosperity achieved under the Kingdom’s leadership. He highlighted the government’s measures in protecting national achievements across different domains.
The delegation was briefed on the Ministry of Interior’s work in maintaining security and public safety, as well as ongoing efforts to enhance police performance through training and the use of modern technologies. The briefing also covered initiatives such as alternative sentencing and advanced rehabilitation programmes.
The meeting discussed several security issues and regional efforts to enhance stability and advance mutual interests.
