Iraq Expresses Its Deep Gratitude and Appreciation for the Congratulations Extended by the Secretary-General of the United Nations on the Success of the Elections

Baghdad / NINA / -The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deep gratitude and appreciation for the congratulations extended by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, on the successful conduct of the 2025 parliamentary elections in Iraq, and for his expressed support for the democratic process and the consolidation of stability in the country.

In a statement, the Ministry also expressed its thanks and appreciation to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Mohammed Al-Hassan, for his supportive role in overseeing the electoral process.

The Ministry commended the valuable efforts undertaken by the United Nations mission in Iraq, which contributed to enhancing the transparency of the electoral process and its successful organization in accordance with international standards.

The Ministry affirmed Iraq's continued cooperation with the United Nations and its agencies in support of the goals of stability and development and the consolidation of democratic practices in Iraq. /End
