President Rashid Praises Int'l Partners’ Role in Supporting Iraq’s Democratic Path and Electoral Integrity

Baghdad / NINA /- President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid praised the role of international partners in supporting Iraq’s democratic process and enhancing confidence in the elections, describing them as a national entitlement that reflects the will of the people.

According to a statement by the Presidential Media Office, President Rashid received on Monday, at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, a delegation of international election observers headed by Tamala Longaberger, which included several experts and representatives from the European Union Election Expert Mission, as well as officials concerned with African and Middle Eastern affairs, political and legal experts, election specialists, and representatives of international organizations involved in supporting electoral processes and democratic development.

The statement added that the meeting discussed prospects for cooperation and coordination between Iraqi institutions and their international counterparts in the field of election monitoring, in addition to ways to promote democratic practices and foster a culture of participation to ensure the integrity and transparency of the upcoming electoral process.

President Rashid affirmed Iraq’s commitment to providing all necessary requirements to ensure free and transparent elections and to enable international observers to carry out their duties independently and without restriction. He commended the constructive role of international partners in supporting the democratic path and strengthening confidence in the electoral process.

The President also noted that Iraq’s current political and security stability is the result of national unity and popular will, forming a solid foundation for continued development and reconstruction. He pointed out that this stability has positively impacted the country’s economic and social conditions, created a favorable environment for investment, and reinforced Iraq’s regional and international standing as an active contributor to peace and security in the region.

For her part, Tamala Longaberger and members of the delegation expressed their gratitude to President Rashid for the warm welcome and his commitment to strengthening cooperation with their institutions.
