Iran and Turkmenistan seek to develop comprehensive bilateral relations

Tehran, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, Hamid Ghanbari, who is accompanying a delegation to Turkmenistan, has held talks with top officials there aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Ghanbari exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian relations, during his meeting with Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, in Ashgabat on Sunday.

In this meeting, the two sides emphasized the importance of developing cooperation between the two friendly and neighboring countries in all fields.

Earlier, the visiting Iranian minister held talks with his Turkmen counterpart, Akhmet Gurbanov, reaffirming their commitment to implementing agreements reached during the last session of the Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation.

Iran and Turkmenistan primarily trade petroleum products, cotton, and industrial goods, but the two sides are eager to boost cooperation in the fuel and energy sectors and explore ways to enhance transport and transit potential between the two countries.
