WHO Condemns Attack on Saudi Maternity Hospital in El Fasher
   Geneva, October 29, 2025, SPA -- The World Health Organization (WHO) has condemned the attack on the Saudi Maternity Hospital in El Fasher, North Darfur, following a series of assaults targeting the medical facility and the abduction of several healthcare workers.
   WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed deep shock at the killing of 460 patients and their companions during the attack. He noted that the organization has documented 185 attacks on health facilities since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan in April 2023, resulting in 1,204 deaths and 416 injuries. He added that 49 of these attacks occurred this year alone, causing 966 deaths.
   Dr. Tedros reiterated the urgent need for an immediate and unconditional cessation of all attacks on healthcare, emphasizing that patients, medical personnel, and health facilities are entitled to special protection under international humanitarian law.
