Shura, Representatives First Deputy Speakers meet with Standing Committee Council Chairman of Belarus

Geneva, Oct. 21 (BNA): Jamal Mohamed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, and MP Abdulnabi Salman, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, met Sergei Aleinik, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for Foreign Affairs and National Security. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 151st Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Geneva.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Abdulla Abdullatif Abdulla, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office in Geneva, and Aliaksei Barbuk, First Counsellor at Belarus’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva.
Fakhro highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing diplomatic and economic ties with Belarus, and to advancing parliamentary ties and bilateral visits that support legislative cooperation.
He commended the continuous development of the relations between Bahrain and Belarus, based on mutual trust, respect, and ongoing support for shared interests.
On his part, MP Salman commended the strong growth in Bahrain-Belarus relations and partnership, especially in the economic, trade, aviation, and investment protection sectors. He emphasised the importance of boosting parliamentary cooperation for further development and coordination.
The discussion also covered means to support legislative work and share expertise on artificial intelligence. Fakhro noted the legislature’s focus on creating legal frameworks for AI to balance technological progress with community protection from risks.
On his part, the Belarus official expressed pride in the nearly three decades of excellent relations with the Kingdom and underlined Belarus’s interest in advancing cooperation in social, cultural, tourism, educational, sports, and health domains.
