Geneva, Oct. 20 (BNA): MP Maryam Saleh Al Dhaen, a member of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation, participated in a workshop on "Breaking the Hunger Cycle: Addressing Food Security," organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in cooperation with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), on the sidelines of the IPU’s 151st Assembly.

MP Al Dhaen said that food security is a top priority in Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. She noted that the Kingdom has made food security a key part of sustainable development and public health.

She highlighted the National Food Security Strategy as a framework to enhance local production, support small farmers, enhance supply chains, and promote international cooperation. She also emphasised the link between food security and health through national nutrition and disease prevention programmes.
