FM Affirms Iraq's Full Readiness to Host the Arab Summit and Provide the Appropriate Conditions for its Success

Baghdad /NINA/- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein affirmed Iraq's full readiness to host the summit and provide the appropriate conditions for its success.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Hussein had a phone call with Taher Al-Baour, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the brotherly State of Libya.
During the call, the two sides discussed ways to develop relations between Iraq and Libya and expand the horizons of cooperation in areas of common interest, serving the interests of the two brotherly peoples and strengthening joint Arab action.
According to the statement, the importance of activating the work of the Iraqi-Libyan Joint Committee and updating the framework agreements between the two countries to keep pace with current changes and consolidate institutional cooperation between them was also emphasized.
Regarding regional affairs, according to the statement, the two ministers exchanged views on the rapid developments in the region, especially what is happening in the Gaza Strip. They expressed their countries' unwavering solidarity with the rights of the Palestinian people, the importance of halting the military escalation, and ensuring the protection of civilians.
The two sides also discussed ongoing preparations for the next Arab Summit in Baghdad in May 2025. Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed Iraq's full readiness to host the summit and provide the appropriate conditions for its success, emphasizing that Baghdad looks forward to the summit serving as a platform for strengthening Arab solidarity and regional understanding.
For his part, Taher Al-Baour expressed Libya's appreciation for Iraq's active role in supporting Arab issues, praising the efforts made to prepare for the summit, affirming his country's support for its success, and his confidence in Iraq's ability to organize a summit that strengthens Arab unity and meets the aspirations of its peoples. /End
