FM stresses the importance of enhancing regional stability as a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development

Baghdad /NINA/- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein stressed the importance of enhancing regional stability as a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Hussein met today, Saturday, with the Secretary-General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Kairat Sarıbay, and discussed with him ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of digitization and transportation infrastructure development, in line with the conference's objectives aimed at consolidating trust and strengthening partnerships among Asian countries.
Sarıbay indicated that the next CICA summit will be held in Azerbaijan in 2026, preceded by ministerial meetings on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. He praised Iraq's commitment to paying its financial dues to the conference and appreciated its active role in discussing common issues.
For his part, the Foreign Minister stressed, according to the statement, the importance of enhancing regional stability as a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development. He emphasized that Iraq is a pivotal country in counterterrorism efforts, which contributes to creating a secure environment that supports economic and security cooperation among member states.
The meeting also discussed ways to enhance cooperation within the framework of CICA, serving the common interests of member states and contributing to enhancing integration in the fields of technology and infrastructure, in line with the conference's vision to achieve development and prosperity in the Asian continent. /End
